My story

[p]Covid-19 - 2021 EVP Survival Fund [/p][p]Thanks to our awesome donors and supporters, we have made it through the first couple of months of this global crisis. We are now looking to the next six months and thinking seriously about what we can do and how we can survive. A struggling economy means there is again mounting pressure on our forests, communities and local elephant owners, meaning our help is needed more than ever. We must push forward and to do so we still need your help![/p][p]How can you help from home? [/p][p]If you are already reading this, then you are heading in the right direction, and by providing financial support to not only the elephants that have retired at the EVP, but for the community whose land, livelihoods and support systems depend on them also, this is an immense help. [/p][p]EVP was closed for nearly 2 months from March to May 2020 due Covid-19. Slowly Cambodia is reopening and we are following the government guidelines closely. We reopened the project in early June but only have had a trickle of visitors coming in who are already within Cambodia. Due to the global situation and multiple lockdowns around the world, we do not foresee many international tourists for the rest of the year or more, therefore our primary source of funding is still majorly cut off. [/p][p]It is costing us roughly $18,000 USD per month to keep the sanctuary running, the elephants fed, mahouts paid and to support the community through this crisis. We have been offered $4000-5000 USD per month critical relief funds from the amazing World Animal Protection from April-Sept, and we receive around $1000 per month from individual elephant sponsors (you guys all rock!) - but we still need to find the rest.[/p][p]With your contribution, together we can continue to provide the highest quality of care for all the elephants at the EVP in ensuring that these turbulent times do not affect their day to day routine. We can also try to honor our long-standing commitment to the community, through our health care access program and livelihoods, but only if we secure enough funding to continue these programs. [/p][p]We are currently one month behind in most payments and looking at the next 6 months with trepidation. [/p][p]Every single penny counts. So donate, send the link to your loved ones, friends and family and together let's make a difference![/p][p]We would also love to hear from you if you work for, or know of, a company or corporate program that would like to sponsor the EVP or support one of our budget items, as we are super interested to look at corporate sponsorship as well.[/p][p]Thanks so much[/p][p]The EVP team[/p][p][br][/p]
