My story

[p]Runoff@3 is a fundraising event organised by KickOff@3, a Hertfordshire CIC, in aid of ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust).[/p][p]From Saturday 4th July – Saturday 4th August 2020, we invite everyone to participate in our new fundraising initiative, ‘Runoff@3’ in support of leading blood cancer charity ACLT.[/p][p]Founded in 1996, ACLT, work near to 365 days a year to improve the odds of finding stem cell, blood and organ donor matches by registering potential donors en masse from all ethnicities, with a focus on donors from the African and Caribbean communities. This is due to an extreme shortage of potential African and Caribbean donors. [/p][p]Runoff@3 is an open invitation for ALL to participate in a fundraising raising initiative which will bring households together to either run, walk or wheel any distance of their choosing any time, between the Saturday 4th July to the Saturday 4th August, whilst raising much needed funds for the lifesaving work carried out by ACLT. The fundraiser is a direct response to assist in raising funds for ACLT, a much loved charity in the community, as a result of the challenging times the current Covid-19 pandemic has presented to many.[/p][p]Once participants have completed the Runoff@3 challenge, they are asked to make a donation (an amount of their choice) here on the official fundraising page for Runoff@3.[/p][p]Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, a significant number of fundraising events, such as The London Marathon have been cancelled and resulted in a decline of income for the charity. It is our hope that with the Runoff@3 challenge, we can assist in providing ACLT with the financial means to continue providing their lifesaving work to support the families affected by blood cancer and other illnesses where blood transfusions, a stem cell or organ transplant are required.[/p][p]ACLT recently launched their #BlackBlood Challenge, encouraging as many people as possible to donate blood, to assist the 15,000 sickle cell sufferers, cancer patients and anyone in urgent need of blood transfusions in getting the best matched blood to aid their treatment. You can find out more about the #BlackBloodMatters challenge here.[/p][p]If you would like to be featured on our social media, please send photos of yourself completing RunOff@3 to connect@kickoffat3.co.uk[/p]
