My story

[p]So my journey with endometriosis is something that I have talked about many times. Over the years you have all helped now me to fundraise for Endometriosis UK, which is the UK charity that's supports those suffering with this chronic illness. I continue to volunteer with Endo UK and help as an advocate and helpline trainer.[/p][p]So I am ..... we are infertile because of endometriosis along the way we lost several babies. [/p][p]In 2011 I underwent major surgery having a hysterectomy and bowel resection & my health has continued to improve. Hysterectomy is no cure for endometriosis and although I have ongoing health complications including extreme fatigue - I will not let it define me. Crazily all this exercise (as much as I have to drag my sorry butt out of bed for training) has made me feel better than ever.[/p][p]This disease affects 1 in 10 women yet it has so little funding to research the causes, the treatment and ultimately the cure we all dream of. [/p][p]This year I have decided to undertake a number of sporting challenges - I don't consider myself to be a runner or a cyclist or a swimmer. However this year I am facing my ultimate bucket list. [/p][p]15 April - Brighton marathon [/p][p]19 May - Stradbroke Triathalon [/p][p]29 July - Dunwich Dynamo [/p][p] any contribution you can make helps you join me in the fight for finding a cure. [/p][p]Update post Brighton [/p][p]I can honestly say I have never ever been more humble or more grateful than I am right now. I loved every moment of the marathon and am more proud of myself than I thought possible. When I signed up to run I did it because I wanted to loose weight and see how far I could push my body. Yup I pushed it to its limits , during training I battled through injuries and tiredness because I knew ultimately it was making me feel better. I didn’t expect the emotional wave that hit me the day before, partly brought about by a man I met on the train telling me of his wife’s battle with Endo and their newly born miracle IVF baby. Suddenly on Saturday I felt an enormous wave of grief for all of our lost babes, and for the life we so wanted. Although it’s important to grieve I have never wanted to be crippled by it but last Saturday it was relentless and today a week on I think it actually did me good. [/p][p]I have had to jiggle my sponsorship challenges about as tomorrow I was due to take part in my first Triathalon. But due to a chest infection I have had to withdraw - fear yeah not , I have a new one in its place in May. I can’t bloody wait ! Having only learned to swim last year doing a Triathalon feels like a marathon of its own ....[/p][p][br][/p][p]from me me and our precious stars and everyone effected by Endo I thank you xxxxxxx[/p]
