My story

[p] Three men… one canal… no boat![/p][p] [/p][p] Luke Passmore, David Simpson and Matt Ferguson will be tackling the mammoth length of the Grand Union Canal from the 20th to the 24th May in aid of the Cure Leukaemia charity. Starting in Little Venice, London, we will be strolling, stumbling and dragging ourselves through the Heart of England, hopefully ending up in Birmingham five days later. A collective insanity and a desire to do some good (whilst avoiding walking up or down any hills) had led us to this particular scheme... It gives us the chance to raise some money for this very worthy cause, whilst keeping a nominal shred of dignity once we reach our goal, and we would love your support![/p][p] The Charity has supported research into Leukaemia since 2003, supporting the construction of a specialist Centre for Clinical Haematology in Birmingham, as well as a network of specialist nurses in the region. This one is very close to the heart of Luke as part of wider fund raising efforts in support and memory of Jake Hood who started raising funds for this charity, at the age of 19, while battling leukaemia on his own terms and raised over £10,000 by holding a testimonial rugby match shortly before he sadly passed away in 2015. The rugby match was held between teams selected by Jake and his Father, Paul. Paul is a close friend of Luke and the rugby club have continued to raise funds for this worthy cause ever since.[/p][p] Luke, David and Matt will be joined and supported along the way, by colleagues at Bibby Financial Services as part of the Bibby Giving Something Back scheme, where staff raise funds and volunteer for various chosen charities and good causes.[/p][p] Please see some links below with information about Jake and Cure Leukaemia.[/p][p] https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/mother-pays-tribute-to-northampton-teenager-jake-hood-after-he-lost-his-fight-against-leukaemia-1-7138652[/p][p] http://cureleukaemia.co.uk/[/p][p] [/p]
