My story
[p]Message from Dave Fletcher[/p][p]Hi There,[/p][p]Firstly thank you for visiting our page, this summer I am off on an little motorcycle challenge with my lifelong buddy Gary Rice. I cant deny I am excited about this trip, this will be the hardest thing I have ever done on two wheels (or on anything else come to think of it) [/p][p]During this 20,000 mile adventure, we hope to raise money and awareness for the Myotonic Dystrophy Support charity. As you may know my family is directly effected by this hidden disease. [/p][p]I hope you will join Gary, myself and Margaret Bowler in supporting the three UK research centres headed by Professors David Brook, Darren Monckton and Jeremy Rhodes. We aim to raise as much funds as possible to support their important research.[/p][p]We leave our fair city of Bristol on the 5th of May, soon it will be time for the talking to stop and the action to begin.....you can follow our travels on my blog at 2WheelAdventurer[/p][p][br][/p][p]Message from Professor David Brook[/p][p]Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Our aim is to raise funds to go towards research into Myotonic Dystrophy, which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy. It is a debilitating, genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting and patients can display varying symptoms which get worse with age. [/p][p]The condition affects the muscles of movement, the facial muscles and can affect the electrical conduction of the heart, the breathing and swallowing muscles, the lens of the eye and the brain. Patients often struggle with every day tasks that most of us take for granted. [/p][p]So far, there is no cure or treatment for this condition. Scientists are working hard to develop a treatment for Myotonic Dystrophy. Last year the first clinical trial was held for a novel DNA-based therapy and further clinical trials with other possible drugs are planned. Your support could help us develop a treatment for this most common form of adult muscular dystrophy.[/p][p]David[/p][p]Professor David Brook[/p][p]School of Life Sciences[/p][p]University of Nottingham[/p][p]Queen’s Medical Centre[/p][p]Nottingham[/p][p]You can find the details of the charity at the below link[/p][p]Myotonic Dystrophy Support Group[/p]
Donations from Bristol Rovers match day supporters, at a pre match bucket collection against Charlton Athletic on a wet and windy day at the Memorial Stadium on the 16th of March 2019. Great amount donated by fans and a well deserved point on the pitch.

I'll double my donation if I get to see you and Tim dancing to Abba's Dancing Queen - for a second time! Seriously impressed by your trip. Well done to you both.
