My story

[p]Update - I did it!![/p][p]What a weekend! It was physically and mentally tough but also one of the most amazing experiences of my life with a fantastic group of strong and determined women.[/p][p]Friday 🏔? ❄?⛺[/p][p]A four hour slog up Snowdon in the rain, snow, wind and hail, arriving just as light was starting to fail. Picking our way down the mountain ridge in the dark, on a loose, rocky and snowy path, with just the light from our head torches, was one of the scariest things I've ever done. We finally made it to camp at 10pm, several hours after schedule. It was an unsettled and very chilly night, as the wind, rain and hail battered my tent.[/p][p]Saturday 🏔?❄?⛺[/p][p]A stunning but steep hike across the Moelwynion mountain range to a huge sink hole. After abseiling 50m into the sink hole, we scrambled down the sharp, slippy and loose slate into the mine, finally wading out of the water-logged mine tunnel 2 hours later. It was then another hike down the mountain in the dark, this time with cold, wet feet, arriving at camp almost 12 hours after we set off. An even colder night under canvas with temperatures falling below zero.[/p][p]Sunday 🚣🌤?[/p][p]Our final activity was kayaking in Llyn Padern in Llanberis.[/p][p]____________________[/p][p]At the end of October, I will be taking part in a 3-day endurance challenge across Snowdonia that will involve hiking (some of it in the dark!), rappelling, kayaking and camping in potentially freezing temperatures. We will have to tackle any obstacle on our route and it will be physically and mentally demanding. I have never done anything vaguely like this and it will certainly push me well outside my comfort zone. Over the next couple of months I will need to train (a lot) so that I am fit and strong enough to deal with whatever the Welsh wilderness throws at us.[/p][p]So why on earth am I doing this? [/p][p]To raise money for Pregnancy Sickness Support (PSS). I will be tackling this challenge with a group of women who all have one important thing in common - we all suffered from the awful condition hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during our pregnancies. HG was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through - it wasn't just physically debilitating, but it took its toll on my mental health too. Sadly, I didn’t know about PSS when I was pregnant but I know that my experience would have been very different if I had known about the charity and had the support of one of its volunteers. [/p][p]This is why I’m fundraising - so that the charity can continue the amazing work it does supporting women and their families through an extremely difficult time in their lives. [/p][p]So please, please sponsor me. PSS is a tiny charity that relies entirely on fundraising by volunteers. Every penny donated will help women who are suffering get the support they desperately need.[/p][p]Thank you. [/p]
