Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. [/p][p]‘Whatever Happened to the Lycra Lads’ ride again![/p][p]Emboldened by last year’s cycle ride from St Bees in Cumbria across the Lake District, through the Dales and North Yorks Moors to Robin Hood's Bay, we intend to mark the centenary of the end of the Great War by cycling 480 miles along the length of the Western Front from the Franco-Swiss Border to the North Sea at Nieupoort in Belgium from 31st August until 9th September 2018.[/p][p]We are a party of cyclists from Kent: loosely attached to Aylesford Bulls Rugby Club, West Malling Baptist Church and Kent Police Recreation Association. [/p][p]None of us are in the first flush of youth but we hope to have fun, burn some calories and raise a few glasses to the memory of our glorious ancestors whilst raising money for two great charities: the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and ROPE (www.rope.org.uk) - a Christian charity which works with the poor in developing countries. [/p][p]We hope to make links with interested groups along our route and lay wreaths at suitable locations along the way: the Memorial to the Rugby Players on the Chemin des Dames, the grave of former England Captain Ronald Poulton Palmer and at the Menin Gate).[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
