Team story

[p]This year, we, the team at Muslamic Makers, have decided to raise money for the ‘ICT Literacy’ Project in Pakistan. Muslamic Makers started 2 years ago to create a safespace and upskill our community we truly believe Technology can change people's lives.[/p][p]One of our Co-Founders, Arfah, visited America, Pakistan and UAE as part of her fellowship, to explore stories around Muslim Women in Tech and recently launched inclusivetechworld.com - a resource of inspiration. [/p][p]Despite the struggles we may have as Muslims in the Tech world, especially in the West, we are still really blessed that we have basic ICT skills to help accelerate our careers. With our network to help us, we can be part of a global movement but not everyone is as lucky as us. [/p][p]Do you remember the first time you used a computer? The world that then opened up and the opportunities that followed? We want to give this gift of a future with Tech to children. This is why we have decided to support Human Appeal in their ‘ICT Literacy’ lab project in Pakistan.[/p][p]Human Appeal believes in in establishing stable health care, education and income generation programmes that pave the way for empowering self serving communities.[/p][p]48% of children of lower secondary school age are out of school and only 10% of poor children children complete this level of education compared to 72% of rich children. [/p][p]According to UNESCO, ICT has the ability to contribute to universal access to education, equity in education and the delivery of quality learning and teaching professionally.[/p][p]The proposed project aims to establish 10, well equipped ICT Labs in the Rawalpindi District of Pakistan, in addition to the training of teachers to deliver quality IT learning. It will be built in Muree and Taxilia; two of the most marginalised areas in the rural district where most of the public sector schools have no ICT facilities.[/p][p]The long term goal of this project is to enhance their learning to gain necessary skills which will be useful in their future career.[/p][p]See the attached pictures for breakdown of impact but this project will benefit over 1000 children in total. [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
