Team story

[p]Hello[/p][p]In January 2015 our company charity partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society was announced following an employee vote.  In order to support this amazing charity we aimed to do something really memorable… The National 3 Peaks Challenge.[/p] [p]The National Three Peaks Challenge is a mountain endurance challenge in which people attempt to climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours, including travel between the mountains.[/p] [p]Our ambitious team comes from across the company and across the UK.  They are Eamonn Mckiernan BAM FM - Bridgwater, Laura Cochrane BAM FM - Bristol, Lynn Duggan BAM FM - Crawley, Mark Gay BAM FM - Bristol, Jason Cordice BAM FM - Bridgwater, Stephen Gaughan BAMC - Leeds, Lee Edwards-Smith BAMC - Western, Andrew Reed BAMC - Western, Matt Little BAMC - Bodmin, Meurig Williams BAMC - Western and our drivers Frank Fraterrigo BAM Plant – Wellingbourgh & Bob White BAM FM – Crawley.[/p] [p]After picking up our team along the way to Fort William on the Friday we started our challenge early on Saturday 27[sup]th[/sup] June.  We followed the typical order, starting with Ben Nevis then to Scafell Pike in the Lake District, finishing at Snowdon in North Wales.  Although we missed out on the views on both Ben Nevis & Scafell Pike, check out our cloudy photos, the weather wasn’t too bad, at least it wasn’t too hot!  Snowdon was another story.  We arrived at the bottom of the third mountain in the very early hours of Sunday morning with the raining pouring down and the wind blowing a hoolie.  In the dark on a ridge just below the summit, the wonderful guides (two Marines who volunteered their time) informed us the current wind speed was 68mph and we couldn’t safely go back down the pyg track the consensus was to take the longer but considerably safer route back to Llanberis – After climbing the summit of course.[/p] [p]Thank you for all your support![/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Alzheimer's Society. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations. [/p][p]Laura & the 1BAM3Peaks Team[/p]
