My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #008000;]In memory of my beautiful wife Sharon and to raise money for two charities close to both of our hearts, I will be attempting to run twenty marathons in 2016, one for each year we were married.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #008000;]Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2007, and fought the spread of this horrendous disease with great dignity and courage for over seven years. Devastatingly, it took Sharon from us in February 2015.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #008000;]Sharon loved life and lived it completely with such happiness and enthusiasm. She had a positive impact on everyone she met, and is missed so desperately every day.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]When Sharon was first diagnosed in 2007 The Fire Fighters Charity were quick to provide support during her first journey through chemotherapy, providing a much needed recuperation break for us at their centre in Devon. More recently the wonderful staff at Marine Court in Littlehampton have been there to provide invaluable support to me.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]They are the UK's leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families. Their vision is to make a positive difference by supporting people in the fire and rescue community when they are in need. Over the years, they've helped hundreds of thousands of individuals by providing world-class treatment and support services.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]It costs over £8 million every year to keep the Charity running, and they're completely reliant upon donations and fundraising, so your support is very much needed.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #ff00ff;]Unfortunately Cancer Research UK really needs no introduction. Everyone knows somebody affected by cancer and research into the causes and treatments is essential in the daily fight against this horrendous disease. [/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #ff00ff;]Sharon participated in a number of studies and trials during her treatment, undoubtedly helping others affected by cancer. She also would have benefitted from previous research carried out by Cancer Research UK. [/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #ff00ff;]Always accompanied or supported by family and friends, Sharon was passionate in her support for Cancer Research, completing every Portsmouth Race for Life since her diagnosis, facing the events as she did her biggest challenge with humour and great determination.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;]Sharon would want us to continue to support these charities as she did, so please donate now .... after all The Fire Fighters Charity may have to put me back together again after all of those miles ![/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;]And feel free to share my page, and do come back. I'll be updating my blog (address below) as I progress throughout the year.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;]Your support means so much. Knowing Sharon is being remembered and that you're behind me will hopefully help me complete this challenge.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;][lt]span style="background-color: #ffffff;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #ffcc00;"[gt]16/11/15 [/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;][lt]span style="background-color: #ffffff;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #ffcc00;"[gt]My reasons for supporting CRUK and The Firefighter's Charity are well known and I thank you all so much for the support you have shown to these two amazing charities so far. [/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;][lt]span style="background-color: #ffffff;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #ffcc00;"[gt]I have needed extra support of late and have been fortunate enough to have found the amazing people of The Loss Foundation who have reached out during a very challenging time for me. They are a relatively small charity doing such important work, and so I hope you will feel able to help me give something back in recognition of their unconditional kindness and compassion.[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;][lt]span style="background-color: #ffffff;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #ffcc00;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #000080; background-color: #00ff00;"[gt]24/12/15[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt][span=color: #333300;][lt]span style="background-color: #ffffff;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #ffcc00;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #000080; background-color: #00ff00;"[gt]You can now follow my progress at : 20marathons2016.wordpress.com[lt]br /[gt][/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p]
