Team story

[lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]The Challenge 2014[lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]When considering what to do I wanted the challenge to be, well, a challenge! Something that if I was ask someone to contribute they would say, ‘really, now that’s a challenge!’ So after weeks of thinking I decided on a bike ride. Nothing to impressive there I hear you say. I also wanted to link the challenge to my work hoping it would generate some additional sponsorship from fellow work colleagues and potentially their clients. So having offices in Sheffield and Southampton the challenge was starting to take shape with a bike ride from Sheffield to Southampton, which is around 240 miles. But, after reflecting on this idea I came to the conclusion this bike ride is quite manageable with some training if spread over two or three days. So, did it match up to my expected reaction, ‘really, now that’s a challenge?’ Not really![lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]Then it dawned on me.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]Premature babies have something called a ‘viability stage’. This refers to the weeks required for the child to be in the womb prior to any premature birth. The viability stage is vital for their baby’s survival because the baby’s lungs are one of the last organs to be fully developed which means any child born prior to this date is unlikely to breathe on their own. [lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]And the viability stage is, as far as I remembered it, 24 weeks.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]Have you made the connection yet? 24![lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]Can I bike from Sheffield to Southampton, 240 miles, within 24 hours???’[lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]Now that, to me anyway, is a challenge.[lt]/div[gt][lt]div id="_mcePaste" style="overflow: hidden; height: 1px; position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px;"[gt]So, can it be done?[lt]/div[gt][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]My son was born 13 weeks early and when he was born I made a promise that I would do something to raise money for the hospital that saved his life! 15 years later I'm actually doing it. Your support will help to give premature babies the chance of experiencing the most precious gift possible. A life to live and enjoy. [/p][p]The Challenge - Can it be done?[/p][div=text-align: justify;]When considering what to do I wanted the challenge to be, well, a challenge!
