Team story

[p]As both of us know firsthand, some of the hardest things to come to terms with post life changing injury, are the huge sense of loss when your career/ role as mother/wife becomes jeopardised, the consequent sadness & fear of never being able to achieve your potential, & ultimately losing the ability to be a good role model to your children by setting a good example, working hard & progressing in life. [/p][p]Being awarded our flying scholarships has given us the opportunity to challenge ourselves both mentally & physically given the constraints of our injuries & hopefully, if we succeed, achieve something which many ‘normal’ people would find hard; Demonstrating to our children, ourselves & others injured that life beyond Injury can still mean that anything is possible, is everything to us. [/p][p]FSDP is a charity that helps people with physical disabilities in many ways. It gives us the chance to experience learning to fly , but it also helps people of a similar nature come together & build lasting friendships, a chance that they might not otherwise get. The FSDP also connects families, so for the first time, we have a special support system of our own, with likeminded people who understand first hand what it is like to live with the consequent challenges day in day out. It helps to build confidence & self esteem making some who may feel lonely, defeated or worthless because of their injury, start to feel empowered & invincible. It also gives them the confidence to go on & achieve other things. [/p][p]We would like to invite you to follow our flying journey & if you are able, please make a donation on this page to help enable other people to benefit from this life changing experience too. The scholarships cost approx £12,000 each . We are lucky enough to have been sponsored by the Red Arrows & Lockheed Martin but the charity relies solely on the generosity of the public so every penny helps. It is an experience that could really change someone’s life by enabling them to fulfill their potential & reach for the skies in more ways than one. [/p]

Wish it could be more. I saw this quote somewhere and I thought of you... "You have escaped the cage. Your wings are stretched out. Now fly!"
