Team story

[lt]p lang="en-US"[gt]Leslie Carvell first drove in Africa in early 1994 . The place, Harare, Zimbabwe, the purpose, to team as an overland crew driving a 16 ton Mercedes truck, leading commercial tours in East & Southern Africa.[/p][lt]p lang="en-US"[gt]Twenty years later she has decided to hit the African road again.  The place, Jinja, Uganda, the purpose, to travel around Uganda and raise money and awareness for Uganda Conservation Foundation (UCF), but this time instead of a 16 ton Mercedes truck, they will be driving a 1970 Beetle called Percy.[/p]WHY PERCY?[lt]p lang="en-US"[gt]For those who have never driven a classic car, one of the most enjoyable things is that they put a smile on people's faces literally every day, no matter where they are. And in Uganda the smiles are huge and the beetles are few.[/p][lt]p lang="en-US"[gt]WHERE IS PERCY GOING?[/p][lt]p lang="en-US"[gt]To places in Uganda where people and wildlife strive to live harmoniously alongside of each other, highlighting the efforts of not only UCF but also other worthwhile conservation organisations within Uganda such as:[/p][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Uganda Wildlife Authority[/p][/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Education Trust / Ngamba Island[/p][/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Uganda Wildlife Education Centre[/p][/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Gorilla Organization[/p][/li][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt]Gorilla Doctors[/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Jane Goodall Institutue[/p][/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Rhino Fund Uganda[/p][/li][/ul]Highlights of the tour of Uganda include:[ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP[/p][/li][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt]Queen Elizabeth NP[/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Chimp Tracking in Kibale NP[/p][/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Murchison Falls NP[/p][/li][/ul][ul][lt]li lang="en-US"[gt][p]Jinja, Source of Nile [/p][/li][/ul]WHAT IS THE APPROXIMATE AMOUNT OF MILES THAT PERCY MIGHT TRAVEL?[p]Based on the route map, ir Percy gets to all these palces then it will be approximately 1,200 miles (2,000 km), but remember some of these destinations are considered 4x4 strongly recommended.[/p][p]HOW CAN I HELP?  [/p][p]Like Percy, follow Percy, share Percy with your friends, but most importantly sponsor Percy.  By supporting Percy you are also supporting the people, wildlife and environment of Uganda.
