Colin and Ailsa walk 75km in the living room

[p]Around a year ago we had just started training to walk 110km along the Chemin St Jacques in France in our friend Heather’s memory. We spent our weekends on long, happy spring rambles that helped us to process a lot of grief.[/p][p]One year on we were in the process of preparing to sell our flat and set off on our next adventure. Like everyone else, we’ve found our world turned upside down, and it looks that dream is on hold. Once again we’re finding comfort in walking - this time not outside, but on our walking pad! [/p][p]We’ve decided to look on the bright side, appreciate our health, and stay active, and once again we want to use our feet to do some good![/p][p]On Good Friday we’re going to have a walkathon in our living room! We’re going to walk 75km, taking it in turns, as non-stop as possible through the day. So we don’t blow up the treadmill, we’ll each walk for 25 mins (6kmph), let the machine rest for 5 mins, then swap. That may sound easy but we’ll each be doing more distance than our longest day on the Chemin, walking at a fast pace, spread over 15 hours! And we won’t have the beautiful French countryside or our friends by our side. [/p][p]Fundraising proceeds will go to NHS Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.
