My story

[p]Back in 1968 I rode my BSA A65 Lightning to Germany and back. In 2001 I restored an identical machine which I rode to Germany and Switzerland and back in 2002 to prove to myself that I had made a reasonable job of the restoration. I repeated this in 2008 the 40th anniversary of the original ride to Germany and raised (along with some friends) £4000 for charity. I and hopefully some friends will repeat this trip this coming July, the 50th anniversary and hope to raise a lot more than the £4000 in 2008. Since 2008 we have collected a total of £17000 for various charities. This year the charities will be, The Christie, Francis House Childrens' Hospice, The North West Air Ambulance and S.S.A.F.A. (Soldiers,Sailors, Airmen and Families Association). I am searching for sponsors for this trip, not to pay for any of my/our expenses, every penny will go to and shared equally between the charities. If you are able to help in any way please contact me personally. [/p][p]I will be contacting several businesses hoping that they too can help.[/p][p]I successfully completed the trip and I am now home, very tired but very pleased.[/p][p]Pretty good for a total age of 120 years, the bike is 51 and I am 69![/p][p]The new photos show my bike lashed down on the Pride of Bruges ferry and the second proof that I did indeed make it to Basel, Switzerland.[/p][p]Unfortunately, due to things beyond my or anyone else's control, I did the trip alone.[/p][p]This meant that I was alone in raising funds, so I am still far away from my original target.[/p][p]The fund raising will continue until April so if you are really desperate to donate it's still possible![/p][p]Please keep the donations coming.[/p][p]Thanks in advance[/p][p]Alan.[/p]
