My story

[p] Father and son Tandem bicycle ride for Daybreak[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]My father has been an important person in the life of all of my family. Someone My mother, sister and myself as well as his two granddaughters and grandson have always known would do his best for us.[/p][p]He has always been active and enjoyed getting outside, particularly to exercise. he actively encouraged us all to stay active and look after ourselves with good exercise and fresh air while being social at the same time.[/p][p]Since he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s we have all made points of getting him out to maintain his overall fitness, knowing that this would help us make the most of our time with him. And also keeping him fit. The interaction and fitness he’s maintained helps his drift into Alzheimers less problematic and maintains the man we know and love stay with us for as long as is possible.[/p][p]I acquired a tandem a couple of years ago, partly with the intention of using as a way of getting out with him. He’d taught my sister and I, and through us our children, to maintain bicycles when we were young. [/p][p]When I heard Daybreak needed to raise funds I asked my dad if he fancied doing a sponsored ride together. he said yes, he always does to such things. He thoroughly enjoys his days going to Daybreak in Kidlington. Mostly for the opportunity to dance with anyone who will dance with him and for the conversation with others attending. [/p][p]I’ll be pleased to get around the route we have planned for the event. It’ll be a little under 30 miles in total and we will visit all of the Daybreak centres in the Oxford area on the ride. [/p][p]We even got my dad a new crash helmet for the event.[/p]
