My story

[p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Thank you for visiting my page.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]I am very fortunate to have a place in the 2016 London Marathon. I hope to complete the marathon in less than 4 hours.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Our daughter Lizzy is 15 and has the debilitating eye condition Keratoconus. With Keratoconus the normally round dome-shaped clear window of the eye (cornea) progressively thins causing a cone-shaped bulge to develop. The change in shape and thinning of the cornea causes very poor vision. [/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Lizzy has already had a relatively new procedure called cross-linking on her “good” eye in an attempt to prevent further deterioration. Her “bad” eye is already beyond repair and in all likelihood will need a corneal transplant at some point. You can read more about Keratoconus at:[/span] [span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;][url=http://www.fightforsight.org.uk/about-the-eye/a-z-eye-conditions/keratoconus/]http://www.fightforsight.org.uk/about-the-eye/a-z-eye-conditions/keratoconus/[/url][/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]For our daughter Lizzy and people like her I am fundraising for the charity Fight for Sight. Someone in the world goes blind every five seconds. Fight for Sight’s mission is to stop sight loss in its tracks. By funding pioneering eye research, they want to create a future where everyone can see. They don’t receive any government money and completely rely on the support of fundraisers and donors. They can only fund about 15-20% of all applications for research that they receive each year. Through this fundraising I hope to be able to help Fight for Sight just a little.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Thanks very much for reading this and many more thanks if you can donate.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Alan.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Read more about Fight for Sight at: [url=http://www.fightforsight.org.uk/]http://www.fightforsight.org.uk/[/url][/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 11pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/span][/p]
