My story

[p]Thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]For those who know me well, jumping on a bike is something I do regularly and the idea of funding me to take part in a cycling adventure may seem a little cheeky. However, this is no ordinary ride and it is not for a commonly recognised cause - so let me try to convince you to dig deep. Here are some reasons.[/p][p]Physical:[/p][p]1 - It’s a 24 hour race from London to Paris[/p][p]2 - The route is 300KM (I think the furthest I have traveled in one ride is about 150KM)[/p][p]3 - There is no bed on the ferry, so I will not sleep[/p][p]4 - Knowing my luck, it will probably rain all the way and there will be a ghastly head wind from the moment we start[/p][p]More importantly the cause and reasons why I am asking for your help:[/p][p]1 - I am riding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy[/p][p]2 - Duchenne is a rare and devastating muscle wasting disease[/p][p]3 - It mainly affects boys, and there is currently no treatment or cure[/p][p]4 - Children are usually diagnosed by the time they are 5 years old, totally paralysed by their teens, and probably won’t live beyond 20[/p][p]I am riding in the Duchenne UK ‘Duchenne Dash” and a few hundred of us hope to raise £1,000,000 to try to end this disease in the next ten years.[/p][p]Please watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2uKGoWO0K4&feature=youtu.be [/p][p]For further information about the condition, please visit Duchenne UK website for more information on their important work, focusing on funding research and trials, accelerating drug development and Community Engagement & Support.[/p]
