My story

[lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. I'm taking on the Great North Run for the first time and raising money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and St Cuthbert's Hospice - two charities that are very close to my heart since losing my wonderful husband Bob to cancer last year.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Through the Foundation (not to mention our brilliant medical team) we were able to have an extra 18 months together as a family, as Bob was treated at the Freeman Hospital's Sir Bobby Robson Clinical Trials Unit. Their work helps to develop new treatments for cancer and makes a difference to many people's lives. Bob had melanoma, a particularly difficult cancer to treat, but the Foundation is helping towards finding new ways to tackle it and bring hope to others for the future.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]St Cuthbert's Hospice cares for people with life limiting illnesses and provides support to their loved ones too. We have continued to benefit from their fantastic Family Support Service as we adjust to life without Bob.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Bob was a keen runner and completed the 2013 Great North Run while he was on the clinical trial. He even managed to persuade me to take up running, aged 40, which was no mean feat! Every time I lace up my trainers and go out I amaze myself and am quite happy to bore everyone rigid by going on about it! He is my inspiration so when I'm pounding out those miles I'll think of him and keep going.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]If you can spare a couple of pounds to help these great causes, and keep inspiring my running, I'd be very grateful.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Thank you![/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Alison[/p]
