My story

[p]"I will never run a marathon - it's a stupid distance"[/p][p]Those words will haunt me forever, along with "Okay I'll apply I won't get a place".[/p][p]Yet here I am, attempting to train my body to endure 26.2 miles in my sub 4 hour target time. I have a plan (I always have a plan) and a fabulous team of supporters - we WILL do this. I think at this point I should probably point out that my last race prior to applying to become part of this epic journey was a 400m track race !! I'm reliably informed that a marathon is simply 107 x 400m. Easy peasy then......[/p][p]The charity ? - Well anyone who knows me or Jess will know exactly why we've chosen The Christie. Clearly a charity now very close to our hearts. The staff over there do a fabulous job and need our support.[/p][p]Please donate generously guys....................thankyou (Oh and remember to load the VLM app and follow me on race day)[/p][p]Latest News[/p][p]I am now up to 17.5 miles, this is over 2.5 hours of running. The pain now begins at about 15 miles and believe me it hurts. I’ve joined the local gym and with the help of a lovely young man called Joe, who never laughs at my lack of muscle, I am attempting to strengthen my core in the hope that we can delay the pain for a few more miles.[/p][p]10/2/18[/p][p]20 miles in the bag. [/p][p]9/3/18[/p][p]After losing a couple of weeks training with illness I have had to revert to Plan B. All is good though and I managed my target run of 22 miles yesterday in the snow and wind. This morning I'm quite surprised that I can still walk. Upward and onward........[/p][p][br][/p]
