My story

[p]UPDATE:  I DID IT!! I finished the London Marathon, and I ran the whole way! It was an amazing day and I was powered every mile by knowing how generous people have been in sponsoring me to do it. THANK YOU. [/p][p]I really hated the training but the actual day was brilliant and a real acheivement. Most importantly, I hope, we have raised a shedload of money and hopefully even more awareness of the utterly brilliant Choir With No Name and their tireless work to help people on the fringes of society to feel important, included and that they have something to contribute. so THANK YOU all. [/p][p][lt]br /[gt]including Gift Aid, donations have reached OVER £5,000 which is truly amazing. Every penny will be meaningfully, thoughtfully spent by the Choir with No Name team, who I can vouch for personally.  My donation page will be open until the end of June in case any of you want to contribute who haven't...I would love to raise as much as I possibly can. [/p][p]But for those that have, I am just delighted to have done the deed, and want to say a ginormous THANK YOU for your amazing support. [lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]I shall now go back to my regular pursuits of eating cake and grumbling about toddler sleep. Oh, and I might even continue to go for a run every now and again. but not 26 blummin miles EVER AGAIN. [lt]br /[gt]Yours achingly, [/p][p][/p][p]Alison (now not quite so much a non-runner. )[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]---------[/p][p]I am Alison. I like cake, sleep, singing,  watching films, (and wittertaining podcasts about film), sleep, marmite, and sleep.  I have two small children, one of whom does not like sleep anywhere near as much as I do.  I am not a runner.[/p][p][lt]br /[gt] I am not quite sure how I got here, but somehow, I have committed to running the London Marathon 2016. Me. Not a runner. Did I mention that?[/p][p]Terrified is the word that mostly regularly pops up when I think about what I have got myself into. But equally I'm excited: it's all for the amazing, utterly inspiring Choir with No Name. Which, if you know anything about them, probably explains why I am attempting this madness.[/p][p]The Choir with No Name runs choirs primarily for people who have experienced homelessness. That is what they say they do, but what that means in practice is that they form communities who eat together, sing together, support each other and, by being part of the choir, give back dignity and help each other get life back on track. The Choir With No Name give people who have a lot to battle in their life a place to come and enjoy, sing, get to know others, be known, belong, build confidence, have fun, and have somwhere to escape the nonsense in life. Basically, not just survive but have chance to enjoy life a bit. We all need that, don't we? [/p][p][/p][p]If, like me, you think that me running a marathon is an utterly mad idea, please sponsor me.[/p][p]If you know me and think  how on earth is she going to get fit enough or find time to train or not fall over or manage to stop talking for 6 hours while she runs,  please sponsor me.[/p] [p]If you have never heard of CWNN, please sponsor me anyway. They are brilliant, honestly.I would not be attempting to lumber myself round (ahem) miles if it were not so. Trust me.[/p] [p][lt]br /[gt] If you have heard of CWNN, I don't need to tell you to sponsor me. You will want to do so anyway because they are worth it.[/p] [p]If you have never met me, but think everyone deserves a chance to have joy, dignity and music in their life, please sponsor me.[/p][p]Basically, you have no excuse.[/p] [p]And if you are a praying sort, please feel free to pray too. All support gratefully received: I'm going to need it.[/p] [p]And I promise to give it my absolute best, and I'll get round even if I have to crawl the last bit. (Who am I kidding? the last half).[/p] [p]Thank you![/p] [p](And, of course, Hello To Jason Isaacs.)[/p][p]PS if you want to find out more about how training has gone- I've written a couple of blogs as I've gone along... After all the effort you made to run the marathon, it takes no effort at all to donate to such a worthy cause. A wonderful achievement! Love from Tessa
