My story

[p]Having walked 106km around the Isle of Wight in 24 hours 2 years ago, we - Team True Colours - are taking part in this years Saharan Challenge to once again raise money for an amazing cause - The Rosemary Foundation. [/p][p]The UNESCO World Heritage Draa Valley provides the dramatic backdrop for the Challenge - 2 marathon distances in 2 days across baked rocky trails, through Moroccan villages and palmeries, down to the dunes of the desert. My thanks to Louise, Adrian, Jerry and Patrick for joining me on this epic adventure. There is no doubt this is going to be a tough challenge, its going to be hot and dry with rugged terrain to walk across but the end goal is to raise funds and awareness of our dear friends at The Rosemary Foundation, who provide such amazing care as a 'Hospice in the home" and cared for Becky so wonderfully in her last few months. [/p][p]Thanks for you support and please spread this page to your friends.[/p][p]Alistair x[/p][p][br][/p][p]Sunday 11th August - update[/p][p]So thanks everyone for supporting us so far. Training has now begun in earnest - we walked 18 miles of the South Downs Way this week, no sand or camels but some amazing views up on the Downs from Harting to Amberley. Some of us have also just signed up to take part in the Thames Footpath Challenge over 2 days in September - 100km from Putney to Henley. Again probably not exactly desert like but the distances are similar. I've also just completed my first 5km run using the Couch to 5K app and am taking part in my first Park Run in Ryde this coming Saturday. Onwards and upwards the Desert is calling - according to the very useful APP I have now just 56 days to go![/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p]
