My story

[p]Introducing ‘Team Geckos’ [/p][p][img][/img][/p][p]Professor Jonathan Edgeworth (Swim)[/p][p]Dr Catherine Edgeworth (cycle and run/walk)[/p][p]Amanda Nelson (cycle and run/walk )[/p][p]Graz Hahn – Amanda’s side kick (cycle and run/walk)[/p][p][br][/p][p]In memory of Maria Zmarzlik (date)[/p][p]This weekend is the 1st anniversary of Maria’s passing and we want to celebrate her life and remember her with as much joy, fun and laughter while doing the event, as Maria lived her life. [/p][p][br][/p][p]We are swimming, cycling and running/walking on Saturday 17th August at this year’s Superheroes Para Triathlon – Dorney Lake, Windsor in aid of CRPS UK and SUDEP. [/p][p]Two of our Superheroes, Amanda Nelson and Dr Cathrine Edgeworth have CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). Maria’s passing was as a result of sudden unexplained death in epilepsy. All proceeds will be split equally between both CRPS UK and SUDEP. [/p][p][br][/p][p]This year Cathy and Amanda have teamed up to raise money for a research project being undertaken by CRPS UK. Both have CRPS and know from a personal and professional perspective how this disabling neurological condition impacts on the lives of sufferers and their families and friends. [/p][p]It is Cathy’s first Superheroes Triathlon and the most she will have cycled and walked/ran since developing CRPS. Jonathan, Cathy’s husband, will be the only team member doing the swim and acting as Cathy’s sidekick for the rest of the Tri.[/p][p]It is Amanda’s second time taking part. Last year she did it with all limbs intact; this year she is doing it as a left below knee amputee, having only received her prosthesis at the end of April. Graz, Maria’s mum and close friend of Amanda, will be acting as Amanda’s sidekick to cajole her through the cycle and run/walk parts when the going gets tough. It is the first time Graz has ever done anything like this.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Please donate whatever you can afford to help both charities continue with the great work they do. Every penny counts. [/p][p]Thank you x[/p]
