My story

[p] Thank you for taking the time to read my fundraising page.[/p][p] [/p][p] On April 28th of this year, I will be undertaking the biggest physical challenge of my life - running the London Marathon. [/p][p]And challenge is definitely the word for it - although it seems these days that every second person on your social media feeds is running their eighth ultra-marathon in the Sahara while dressed in an exact replica of Lady Gaga’s meat dress – let me tell you from someone feeling that they have massively underestimated the task ahead of them – this is a real test! [/p][p][br][/p][p]In the last six weeks since I’ve been properly training, I have rarely been without a delightful raspberry-coloured complexion and slight musky scent of sweat, as I seem to be constantly dashing between runs and work – and I still have over 65 hours of training to go until the big day. [/p][p][br][/p][p]A few years ago, with my knees wrecked from years of netball, I never thought this would be possible. So why on earth am I doing this (the question I ask myself multiple times a week)?![/p][p][br][/p][p]As always, the simple reason that this is an amazing opportunity to raise money for a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. When I was 12 years old, I unfortunately witnessed first-hand how Breast Cancer can steal someone away far too young. My gorgeous, funny and warm Aunty and godmother, Sarah (Bizzy to us all) lost her courageous fight with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. [/p][p][br][/p][p] In her memory, the Sarah Greene Breakthrough Tribute Fund was set up in partnership with Breakthrough Breast Cancer (one of the charities that became the amalgamated ‘Breast Cancer Now’). [/p][p][br][/p][p]Breast Cancer Now have kindly agreed that every penny I raise can go directly to the Sarah Greene Breakthrough Tribute Fund, which is incredibly exciting due to the visibility of where the money goes – currently the Fund is raising money for a project at King’s College aiming to develop a virus treatment for triple negative breast cancer (please see http://www.sarahgreene.org/ for more details regarding the amazing things the fund is doing, and has done in the past!).[/p][p] [/p][p] So, while I will be pounding the London pavements in preparation for the big day, I will be resisting the temptation to give up and return to my duvet by thinking of my gorgeous Aunty Bizzy and all of you who have so kindly supported me in this challenge![/p][p] [/p][p] Thank you for reading, and a massive thank you for any donation, big or small, that you are able to make. [/p][p] [/p][p] xxx[/p][p][br][/p]
