My story

[p]I'm running the 2020 London Marathon! (hahaha help me)[/p][p]Did you know that 1 in 5 children, and 1 in 12 adults live with eczema in the UK? It’s still a condition we don’t really understand, especially in adults (yes people have asked me why I haven’t grown out of it yet). There is no cure, just a huge range of mind boggling treatments/creams/medications etc. to help manage the symptoms, and you have to figure out which one might work for you, because no two people are the same when it comes to eczema.[/p][p]You may have seen posts from me before about the constant battle with my skin, and that in 2017 it got so bad that at times I couldn’t even get out of bed. It left me both physically and mentally broken, and I can easily say going through that time was the worst of my life. I’ve tried various medications and creams over the last few years, and thankfully I have been approved, and have now started Dupixent, which involves me having to inject myself every two weeks...got my fingers crossed it'll help in some way me getting my life back! [/p][p]It’s an awful, debilitating condition that we need to learn more about, and raise awareness about what it is, what causes it and whether a cure can actually be found.[/p][p]All of this comes together to me lolloping around London for a grand total of 26.2 miles, yes that’s right I’ve signed up to run the London Marathon, on Sunday 26th April 2020.... Not going to lie I signed up thinking I wouldn't even get picked, but alas, here we are![/p][p]I’m running for the wonderful National Eczema Society, who work hard to provide advice and support for those living with eczema. The money I raise will help them to continue their helpline, which supports people like me to get to grips with their eczema and the treatments that can help manage symptoms, and help fund research so we can all learn and understand more about it. It’s a charity that’s really close to my heart, somewhere I have turned to when I’ve needed it the most.[/p][p]I’ve never run anything like this before, and my skin being so bad in recent years meant I had to stop running entirely, and only recently have I been getting out again. This is probably the biggest challenge I have ever faced, and with your help and support I’m confident I can smash it![/p][p]Any donations, no matter how little will mean the world to me, and if you can share this page then I would really appreciate it! [/p][p]Thank you for your support, I will do you all proud on race day! 🥰[/p]
