My story

[p]“Just a quick update with regard to my upcoming fundraising challenge. I have recently held more talks with local authorities and it’s become clear there are better locations I could do the walk. I’m excited to announce that I will now be walking along the Felixstowe Seafront! The distance I’ll be doing won’t change, nor the two charities I’ll be supporting, so donations still very welcome. Stay tuned!”.[/p][p]I will be 'hobbling' along the seafront, during a period of several days, starting at 11am on Friday 28th May 2021.[/p][p]The Charities I am walking for are EACH - East Anglian Children's Hospices, and SHIMS - Suffolk Help In Multiple Sclerosis. As many of you will already know, I have had Multiple Sclerosis for 27 years now, and will have to use my two walking sticks.[/p][p]If you feel able to dip into the family budget and support this ambition, please feel free to donate, using the link below. [/p][p]Thank you for your time and consideration.[/p][p]https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AndrewBlacker2[/p][p]As I approach the start date, I am feeling very excited. In training I have been keeping a record of my walking distance since March 14th, and it is currently standing (no pun intended) at 93 miles. This week should see the training distance reach 100 miles![/p][p]Thank you all - the total raised so far is very close to £3000, and with Gift Aid, over £3500.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Andy 15th May 2021[/p][p][br][/p][p]BIG DAY TODAY - I should reach 100 miles in training today, despite the persistent heavy rain, I am feeling totally motivated, with only 0.6 miles needed to reach a Century in training since 14th March[/p][p][br][/p][p]Andy 19th May 2021[/p][p][br][/p][p]TWO DAYS TO GO[/p][p]Tomorrow, I am going to do a slightly shorter walk than I have been doing, and on Thursday I am going to have a whole day off?! Friday is of course the big start to the walking challenge, 11am, at the front of Felixstowe Pier.[/p][p]Todays walk was a further 1.6 miles on Landseer Road, taking the Accumulator up to 111 miles since March 14th. A bit of light rain while I was out, but all dried up by the time I finished.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Andy 25th May 2021[/p][p][br][/p][p]THE LAST DAY BEFORE .....[/p][p]Today, I am not going to do a planned walk. I have to get things prepared for the people sitting at the collecting site - water bottles, cooler box, table, chairs, leaflets, banners, collection box - empty out the boot of my car where my electric scooter is sitting, and anything else that I can think of![/p][p][br][/p][p]I am going over to Felixstowe as well, just for a final check on the route and distances.[/p][p][br][/p][p]The total donated so far at £3721 is getting up close to the target I had guessed at, so all very exciting. The added Gift Aid, takes the total well in excess of £4000. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you everybody - your continued support will help me keep going![/p][p][br][/p][p]Andy - 27th May 2021[/p][p][br][/p][p]8 MILES[/p][p][br][/p][p]I have managed the second day, just about, and am looking forward to the last day of the challenge today, and hopefully a successful conclusion! I am completely overwhelmed by the generosity of so many people, both financially, and also their own time, that they are giving freely to help and support me during this trek.[/p][p][br][/p][p]ALL DONE[/p][p][br][/p][p]I completed the walk on Sunday afternoon, and am feeling totally elated, but physically drained![/p][p][br][/p][p]4th JUNE[/p][p]Today, I emptied the Bucket from the static bucket collection point, together with the SHIMS treasurer, that is the amount of the funds raised 'Offline' - £427.39![/p][p][br][/p][p]21st JUNE[/p][p][br][/p][p]It is now 3 weeks since I was able to finish the 3rd day, and 12 mile trek. During this time, i have been overwhelmed with the continued levels of support, with donations now up to just a few pence short of £7000, and with gift aid added, £7841 - Time for a BIG THANK YOU EVERYONE![/p]

Well Done Andy. Keep it up for your future challenges. I remember you coming into Queensway Boots and admired your spirit then.
