My story

[p]I've joined the Dementia Revolution; the official Charity Team of the Virgin Money London Marathon 2019. [/p][p]I've decided to run the marathon again this year in aid of the Dementia Revolution, raising much needed funds for the Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer's Research UK. I'm doing this in memory of my father-in-law Ian Coleman, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of just 53. Ian lived with this awful disease for 11 years and passed away in 2012 at the age of 64. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to meet Ian before he became ill but my wife Jennifer and her family have shared with me their memories and stories about him and I would have loved to have known the generous, loving, family man they describe. I've asked Jennifer to add her own words to this:[/p][p]"Oh blimey, how do I describe my Dad? Generous, he'd do anything for you, friendly, fun, loving, intelligent, funny...my hero. I have so many memories of him but I'm so angry that he's not here, that this awful disease took him from us, that my kids don't have their Grandad, that my sister didn't have her Dad give her away, that he's not here everyday encouraging us, sharing his stories, making us laugh, doting on his grandkids. I'd give anything to have him here. This disease is cruel. It doesn't discriminate and it is a death sentence. It takes someone piece by piece til only a shell is left and as a family you grieve again and again. Please sponsor Andy and help him raise money to fund essential research, find a cure and prevent other families from suffering and losing their loved ones to Alzheimer's." [/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]Andy and family[/p]
