My story

[p]Update July 31st: The hair has gone! I will miss it flowing behind me as I run, but I'm less hot, more aerodynamic and a few grams lighter. All good things for the upcoming marathon. Thank you all for the donations so far. Please keep donating as every pound is so helpful for a small charity like Headway Surrey.[/p][p]Update July 6th: Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me reach the first target of £1,000. As a result, the date for the shave has now been set for the last weekend of July. My aim for £2,000 by then is looking optimistic, but any help to get close would be amazing.[/p][p]In October 2020 I walked into the barbers for the last time. In the months since, as my hair continus to grow, I have been compared to a musketeer, Carrie Anne-Moss, and, succinctly, an idiot. But more importantly, I signed up to run the London Marathon almost a year after that last haircut, in October 2021, to raise money for Headway Surrey.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Headway Surrey is a Guildford based charity that I have had the pleasure of working with since last summer. They provide invaluable support and rehabilitation services for individuals whose lives have been changed by an Aquired Brain Injury. As a small charity, with a budget a fraction of that enjoyed by some bigger, well know organisations, every pound is truly appreciated and can be put directly toward improving the lives of the clients they support. This has never been more true than the present, as the hardships brought on by Covid-19 are acutely felt by the charity sector, and the individuals dependent on charity's services.[/p][p][br][/p][p]However, many of you know that I can run a marathon, so may not consider this reason enough to make a donation to a very worth cause. Therefore to sweeten the deal, I will be putting my now considerable longer locks on the line. If you generous individuals help me reach the £1,000 target I will shave off my hair, going down from what a drunk bald bloke once described as '100mph hair' to a lowly grade 1. If we can do the almost unthinkable and double my target, raising £2,000, I will whip out the wet shaver and remove all modestly by shaving right down to the skin.[/p][p][br][/p][p]So please give generously, knowing that you will be helping local people who have suffered life changing injuries, and that you may even be able to see your reflection in my shiny dome.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you[/p][p]Andy[/p]
