My story

Hi

This September, Johanna and I are running in the Great North Run to help raise funds for Crisis.

I think it is crazy that in this day and age we still can't provide basic shelter for every person in our own country, can you even imagine not having a place to go at the end of the day, a place to call home? Jo and I feel really strongly about trying to help out those who have nowhere to go, and so are raising money for Crisis by running the Great North Run.

Crisis is a fantastic organisation that provides help and assistance to single homeless people (who fall outside of all the other schemes to help the homeless), not just by giving them a bed, but by working with them to fight the reasons they are homeless. It provides, education, training and employment opportunities so that people can find their own way out of homelessness without relying on donations or having to beg for money. In doing so it also helps to give each person a new purpose in life which means they are far less likely to fall back into homelessness.

Please, if you can, spare as little or as much as possible to sponsor me in running the Great North Run so that together we can support Crisis and perhaps in the future we can say that everyone has a place to call home.

Thank you

Andrew

UPDATE!

Partly as incentive to myself to train, partly as a challenge to you all to help me raise money, I've pledged to run 1km for every pound dontated to Crisis on my behalf (even if it takes me a year after the event to complete them). So, if you want me to suffer (and I'm sure you do), the more you donate, the more I run.

You can track all my training with Endomondo ( http://www.endomondo.com/profile/286477 )and will post update sporadically on here.
