My story

[p]MARATHON OF MARATHONS !!!!!!![/p][p]--------------------------------------[/p][p]1 = 5th November 2017 = New York, USA - 3.48 hours - completed[/p][p]2 = 12th November 2017 = Las Vegas, USA - 4.14 hours - completed[/p][p]3 = 22nd April 2018 = LONDON, UK - MAIN FOCUS - FOR MY MUM - 4.06 hours - completed[/p][p](hottest London Marathon on record & I had Flu ! Also 2 bad knees and a hip - excuses, excuses..) [/p][p]4 = 5th August 2018 = Taupo, New Zealand[/p][p]5 = 2nd September 2018 = North Shore, New Zealand [/p][p]6 = 22nd September 2018 = Tauranga, New Zealand[/p][p]7 = 27th October 2018 = Auckland, New Zealand[/p][p]---------------------------------------[/p][p]I ran 5 x full 26.2 mile (42.2km) marathons last year in New Zealand, Australia and Cambodia, which was also my first ever year of running aged 44 years old. After a year off marathons due to running the World Masters Games in 2017 in Auckland, New Zealand (old peoples Olympics according to my daughters) at 45 years old in the Half Marathon, 200m sprint and 10,000m races, all within 5 days of each other & then a serious injury in May which followed putting me on crutches for 3 months, I am back with a bang aged 46 years old to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support who currently help my mum through her incurable Bone/Breast Cancer. They also supported my Nan a few years back with her terminal Cancer so what better charity to support in the UK which is my main focus of fundraising at present. In New Zealand I run for World Vision NZ so a double charity runner.[/p][p]You can read more of my story on my very own website www.rockgod.co.nz[/p][p]This year (Nov 17 to Oct 18) I plan to run 4 marathons within 6 months but both sets are back to back which will push my body to the absolute maximum TWICE! If the body holds out before I need my hip operation from a vehicle accident earlier this year, I have another 3 planned to take the yearly total to 7 in just 1 year but the final 3 marathons hopefully will be doubled up as a guide runner for disabled people. [/p][p]Round 1 completed in the USA in November with a 3.48 for New York followed just 1 week later in Las Vegas with a 4.14 (I was exhausted from the first marathon still).[/p][p]Round 2 in London I am aiming for a 3.28 so from January 2018 I will re-enter intensive training and hope to make everyone that sponsors me proud :-)[/p][p]SO, thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to MacMillan Cancer Support. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
