My story

[p]I've (unsuccessfully) entered the London Marathon ballot every year for the last 7 years. I've never run 26 miles in my life, but the London Marathon always looks "fun" enough to encourage me to enter the ballot. This year, I managed to get a place in the Virtual London Marathon, meaning that I will get all the fun of the proper marathon, without the cheering crowd and without the London. [/p][p]So, on October 3, 2021, I'll be running 26.2 miles around Gloucestershire. Initially, I wasn't going to attempt to raise money for a charity, but as the training has progressed, I've realised that this is going to be far more difficult than I ever imagined. For the third Sunday in a row, I've set my alarm for 6am to head out for a long 7am run. That's in addition to the weekday runs during lunch-breaks and after work. There has been blood, sweat and almost tears since I decided to do this back in February, and it doesn't look like that's going to stop anytime soon.[/p][p]So now I'm asking you to spare a few pounds to give to a wonderful local charity, and to give me to motivation to keep this craziness up. [/p][p]I've decided to support Footsteps Counselling & Care, a Gloucestershire-based charity who offer counselling and care for those affected by pregnancy-related issues, the loss of a baby, traumatic birth, fertility problems and pregnancy-related mental health issues. They've helped a few friends of mine, and I know that the work they do is invaluable to those who most need it. [/p][p]Please donate if you can. It will really help me to keep going through the remaining training runs, and will give me something to focus on during my run on October 3. Anything you can donate will be hugely appreciated by me and by everyone at Footsteps.[/p][p]I'm aiming to complete the marathon in under 4 hrs 30 mins and, if I'm feeling particularly good on the day, I might aim for under 4 hours. Wish me luck![/p][p]Many thanks,[/p][p]Andy[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]

A charity close to my heart and family in all aspects so you have my backing there ! Also, i did the London Marathon in 2012 and i found the endless months of training the marathon and the actual marathon day a reward for getting there. (Julie BLE)
