My story
[p]On 12th June, my life changed when I had a fall and seizure and cracked my head on the pavement on the way to a conference in London.[/p][p]The wonderful people of our great NHS at the Royal London Hospital then worked their magic with me. [/p][p]Ward 12E has the best and most diligent nurses, doctors and auxiliaries you could possibly imagine![/p][p]The upshot is that on Monday evening, 18th June, I came round after brain surgery, in my bed on the ward, just as Harry Kane scored the winner against Tunisia![/p][p]I am now safely home and continuing to recover from brain injury.[/p][p]I have a largely unwanted beard as a result of not being able to shave whilst in the hospital. [/p][p]If you collectively donate a grand or more before Monday, I will gladly have the beard dyed the national colours of the most generous nation and keep it thus until England get knocked out of the world cup. [/p][p]So come on Scottish and Welsh friends, here's your chance to have me wearing Saltire or Dragon whilst Harry wins the Golden Boot! And all you English pals, don't let the Celtic nations make us look tight![/p][p]My absolute dream is for there to be an online bidding war between Gareth Bale, Harry Kane and Kenny Miller on Monday evening. If anybody knows them, please forward the page in their direction! (Maybe it's the brain injury, but why not be stupidly ambitious?)[/p][p]All funds raised are to go to Headway, the brain injury charity.[/p][p]If you actually care about the national colours, you should say for whom you are voting!![/p][p]ADDITIONAL: SO IT'S OFFICIAL - THE BARBER SHOP SHREWSBURY, NATURAL HABITAT OF ALL DAPPER GENTS, UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF BIG VERN, KING OF THE CLIPPERS, HAVE DYED THE BEARD. [/p][p]THE WHITE WAS FREE, COURTESY OF MY ADVANCING YEARS, THEN TWO STRIPES OF RED FOR ENGLAND WHO MUST SURELY NOW GO ON TO WIN THE WORLD CUP, AND TWO CHEESECUTTERS OF BLUE IN THE INTEREST OF KEEPING OUR GENEROUS SCOTS PALS HAPPY - BETTER TOGETHER AND ALL THAT! SHARON WILL DRAW A DRAGON ON MY BALD PATE LATER ON TO HONOUR THE WELSH CONTINGENT![/p][p]THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE HELPED AND SUPPORTED - THE WORK OF HEADWAY WITH THOSE SUFFERING FROM BRAIN INJURY GOES ON AND WILL ALWAYS NEED EXTRA FUNDING.[/p]
