My story

[p]Well, I did it!  Two marathons, six weeks apart.  London in 3:53:39 and Edinburgh in 3:37:39.  I cannot begin to say how pleased I am!  And how delighted I am with the unbelievable generosity of my sponsors - thank you so much.[/p][p]London was warm and sunny, and the atmosphere was amazing.  Being part of a huge number of people with a common purpose is an incredible feeling.  Edinburgh was a cool morning and a more modest event, but also very enjoyable.  Running alongside Portobello beach with the waves gently rolling in was lovely.  And I beat my 3:45 target and my PB, so, after four marathons, I am officially hanging up my marathon shoes and retiring.  (I'll keep running, though - I'm not giving that up.)[/p][p]WAY Widowed and Young has been a lifeline to me in the three years I've been a member.  Being widowed in your 30s, as I was, it's easy to feel isolated and like a freak, like nobody understands what you're going through, even with wonderful supportive friends and family.  WAY allowed me to contact people who really do understand.  We help one another out through social events, holidays and online forums, and we have a lot of fun.  It's great for the kids too, who can also make friends who really get where they're coming from.  WAY's entire income is through donations, so I urge you to support them as generously as you can.[/p][p]Cancer research of course is much bigger.  It's doing fantastic work in fighting the ruthless disease that robbed me of my wife, our 2-year-old daughter of her mum and so many of us of a dear friend.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support.[/p][p]Thank you![/p]
