My story

[p]What is the Dementia Revolution?[/p][p]dementiarevolution.org[/p][p]A revolution is growing. Dementia is the biggest health threat facing society today and there are currently no effective treatments to slow, prevent or cure it.[/p][p]I am a supporter of Alzheimer's Research UK; this includes leaving a bequest in my will. Why? - because I have friends and family affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia. Working in the pharmaceutical industry, I know that research takes a long time and the brain is enormously complex. I feel this will be a bigger challenge than combating cancer. That's why we need to work together and join up on the long path to finding a cure and looking after each other. There is a growing impact on society as the population grows older. Whilst I have been taking care of myself - eating well, exercising, brain training and increasing social interaction - I want to spread the word and join the revolution to bring greater awareness to all. Change is hard. I have even convinced my couch potato (affectionate term!) non-runner husband to take part in a half marathon in 2018 and he ran for Alzheimer's Society. [/p][p]I am very excited that Alzheimer's Research UK and Alzheimer's Society have joined forces and are the 2019 London Marathon Charity of the Year. It's exactly what I needed to stop making excuses and achieve one of my lifetime goals of running a marathon.[/p][p]In September, I gained a place on the Dementia Revolution Team. Yeah! Stay with me and support me on my fund-raising adventures and journey to my first marathon in April 2019.[/p][p]Let us take action! Thank you![/p][p]Anna[/p][p]Discover more https://dementiarevolution.org/blog/blog-im-part-movement-thats-fuelling-change[/p][p]Follow me on Instagram, and now Facebook: anna_life_revolution[/p][p][br][/p][p]Mini-challenge 1: 16th July: Extreme Baking. 8 cakes in 12 hours.
