My story

[p]Since September we have been in training for this race, having never kayaked before. The early part of our challenge included regularly falling in without wetsuits, in the freezing winter! However, we have now got the hang of these very narrow and unstable boats. This race is not only 125 miles long but also includes running 13 miles with a kayak on our backs in order to get around the 77 locks. [/p][p]We are supporting the Sandpiper Trust, which is a Scottish charity set up to administer life saving care through providing rapid response and medical equipment in rural areas. This was set up by Mum's uncle and his wife following a family tragedy. Our second charity is Prostate Cancer UK, which sadly our much loved Grandpa had to cope with. Any support you can give us will be greatly appreciated and make the pain even more worthwhile! [/p]

Very impressive Jack and Archie. If you can paddle and camp in last weekend's conditions, Easter weekend will be a breeze - you could do it twice in a row! Lots of love and luck, The Rusts xx
