My story

[p]In 2019 I pushed the boundaries of my endurance on the Duchenne Dash to Paris with the support of my family. This time with the support of two of my best friends, Mike and Moff, we are aiming to ride 180km round Goodwood to Dash Around the World.[/p][p]We decided on 180km because it is the same distance as the cycle leg of an Ironman, those of you that know me know, I am no ironman and it will definitely be a challenge.[/p][p]Lockdown has been tough on everyone, but for us it has meant watching our little boy Archie start to lose his ability to do things that we take for granted. It's meant us watching him not be able to run around and keep up with his friends - one of his favourite things to do. It has meant us watching as his friends and brother grow taller and stronger while the steroids stunt his growth. And it has meant the start of some heartbreaking conversations to try to answer the many questions of a 7 year old trying to make sense of this cruel condition.[/p][p]22nd August 2017 is a date for evermore etched on our memory, it was the day the world as we knew it was ripped apart, it was the day our little boy Archie was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. In those dark days we received amazing support from Duchenne UK and it is to raise money and awareness for them that we are taking on this challenge.[/p][p]Duchenne UK has one clear aim - to end Duchenne, a devastating muscle-wasting disease. As the leading Duchenne charity in the UK, they connect the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to challenge every stage of drug development to make the incurable, curable. Together, they will find treatments and cures for this generation of patients with Duchenne.[/p]
