My story

[p]To make up for our cancelled fundraising events this year Archie and Freddie are stepping up to the 2.6 Challenge from Sunday April 26. It is the original date for the 2020 London Marathon when millions of pounds are raised for charities across the UK. The 2.6 Challenge has been designed to help save the UK's charities in these difficult times. [/p][p]Starting on Sunday 26th April Archie and Freddie will be attempting to score 26 goals a day for 26 days! They will be raising money for our family fund ‘Archie’s March’ within Duchenne UK. [/p][p]Archie’s diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy 3 years ago tore a hole in our family and nearly ripped us apart, however finding Duchenne UK and seeing the never ending work they do gave us hope. It allowed us to see a future for our son when we thought he had none, it let us believe that his life could be longer than the short 20 years it is expected to currently be and it provided us with a community of friends and families who we could stand shoulder to shoulder beside in this fight against Duchenne. [/p][p]Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a desperately cruel disease. It's the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. Children will be totally paralysed by their teens and many won't live beyond their 20s. [/p][p]There is no treatment or cure. But thanks to recent breakthroughs, and with your help, we believe we can save them.[/p][p]Duchenne UK are an ambitious and highly focused charity, investing millions of pounds in research right now to bring treatments and a cure and to help this generation.[/p][p]We know that it’s a lot to ask from our friends and family at the moment, given the financial uncertainty of the world but it would mean a great deal to the boys if you could sponsor them. As they are both becoming more aware of Archie’s condition and are watching it’s cruelty play out in front of them both on a daily basis, they are also becoming more aware of what fundraising means and what it could represent for Archie’s future. Only this week we had to explain to Freddie that one day Archie would not only not be able to keep up with him, but actually not be able to run at all….the look in his eyes was soul destroying. Please help us to be able to explain a different future to him and END DUCHENNE. [/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor the boys and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Duchenne UK. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p][p]We appreciate all your support so very much and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donations.💚[/p][p][br][/p]
