My story

[p]Since Archie’s diagnosis I have been inspired, in awe of and hugely humbled by our friends, family and even those that don’t know us stepping up to fundraise and undertake huge physical challenges all with the goal of finding a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and to change the future for our little boy.[/p][p]Since 2017 I haven’t felt strong enough to face such a challenge myself, however with the love, dedication and support of 3 incredible friends I am now ready! Lizzy, Tor and Anne first met Archie 3 years ago when he started school and their children have been beside him so closely through that time. These 3 wonder-ladies have been there for me too, their shoulders the cushion for many tears and their ears the listeners of much heartbreak. [/p][p]In September we will be embarking on the South Coast Challenge – a 100km walk from Eastbourne to Arundel taking in Beachy Head, the South Downs and Devil’s Dyke, and covering 2,170m of climb - we hope to complete it within 30 hours and we plan to do it non-stop!![/p][p]We will be undertaking this huge challenge for one reason - to fund raise for Duchenne UK, whose mission it is to find a cure for Duchenne. For those who don’t know, my son Archie was diagnosed with DMD in 2017 at aged 3. Duchenne is a progressive, life limiting muscle wasting condition, and is the biggest genetic killer of children worldwide. Life expectancy for those who have it is mid 20s and there is currently no cure. It is 100% fatal. [/p][p]It is this cure that Duchenne UK is working so tirelessly to find, they want to end Duchenne. But to do this we need to fund raise and this is where you come in, every penny raised through this challenge will get us a step closer towards a world where a diagnosis of Duchenne doesn’t have to only end one way. [/p][p]Thank you, your support means the world x[/p]
