My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]I'm running the 2017 London Marathon in honour of my wonderful Grandma who suffers from Dementia. [/p][p]Having moved in with her when she began to deteriorate and could no longer live alone, it was heartbreaking to see the effect the disease had on her. I didn't appreciate how bad Dementia can be until I did this. [/p][p]Thanks to the amazing support and sacrifice of my family (one aunt in particular) we were able to keep her at home as she wished for a long 5 years until she recently moved to a home to receive care we aren't able to provide. We were lucky to be able to do this and I imagine most families aren't able to make such a big commitment for their loved ones. [/p][p]This is my first marathon, the only other organised runs I've done have been 5k so this is a big deal for me and will require a lot of training and hard work, but all worth it for such a good cause. I'm also running the Brighton half marathon in February so really you're getting 1.5 marathons out of me - what a bargain![/p][p]Sadly since writing this page and starting training my Grandma's battle with dementia came to an end and she passed away in hospital in the company of her daugthers.[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and any donations, big or small, would be amazing. [/p][p]Thank you, [/p][p]Ashleigh[/p]
