Team story

[p]In December 2021 the Atlantic Nomads will be rowing across the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, rowing more than 3,000 miles from La Gomera in Spain to English Habour in Antigua. The team will battle sleep deprivation, 40ft waves, salt sores and all the ocean can throw at them as they row continuously for two hours on, two hours off for around 40 days until they reach Antigua, all in support of two fantastic charities:[/p][p]Alabaré – Homes for Veterans veterans@alabare.co.uk [/p][p]Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans provides supported accommodation to British Armed Forces Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The Charity believes that no veteran should be forced to sleep rough. To do this the wonderful team in H4V fundraise, run and continue to support a number of veterans’ ‘houses’ across the United Kingdom, specifically: Wiltshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Devon, Dorset as well as North and South Wales.[/p][p]Many people are aware that veterans are common amongst the nation’s homeless community and on any given night, 365 days a year, the charity deliver shelter and safety to over 100 veterans. The homes are not just for shelter, they are also a hub for the veterans to reach out from and with excellent links to many local businesses and governments the teams help veterans get back on their feet. [/p][p]Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony https://www.willberrywonderpony.org/[/p][p]Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony was established in support of and very much in memory of Hannah Francis. Hannah was an incredible young lady, she was no doubt a skilled rider and had set her sights on competing at the very highest of levels, with the end goal being to represent her country. Sadly, in early 2015 Hannah was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, which is a very aggressive bone cancer. [/p][p]However, during Hannah’s battle with the awful foe, she saw the positives and as was her way she thought of others first. This enduring selflessness led to her document her battle through her blog (here) and with the support of her family and friends to establish Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony as a charity. The charity endures today thanks in no small part to the amazing volunteers that continue to offer support to those who need it. [/p][p]The charity aims to support vital research into osteosarcoma and to grant equine related wishes to seriously ill people and their families.[/p][p][img][/img][/p]
