My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]Ayesha was diagnosed with leukaemia in April 2011. The family are now working with Anthony Nolan to urgently find her a match from the charity’s register of potential donors. [/p][p]We are asking our supporters to kindly make a donation to support Ayesha's Appeal and her search for a donor. [/p][p]“Ayesha is a bright and cheerful girl and her courage and sheer determination have surprised all who have met her."[/p][p]Ayesha has had to endure 10 cycles of intensive chemo, numerous hospitals stays and has lost her hair 3 times in that period.  In June 2012 she started her maintenance block of chemo.  This runs on a 4 week cycle of low dose chemo and steriods and it is anticpated that this will continue to March 2014.   Ayesha will be undertaking some tests in March 2014. The results of those tests will determine the course of treatment for the rest of 2014. [/p][p]July 2014 Update: Ayesha was taken off her medication briefly but is now back on again.  We are awaiting test results to determine the next course of treatment plan which is likely to be a Bone Marrow Transplant.[/p][p]Ayesha has managed to return to school and feels like a 'normal' person. She attends  art and craft classes and music classes to learn the drums when she can manage.  She manages school when she feels fit enough to attend.  This is positive, but we never plan more than 3 months ahead and how things will look 12 months from now remains uncertain. We constantly live in fear of what may happen.[/p][p]The charity needs money in order to grow their register and provide more matches, so we’re asking everyone to donate what they can to make lifesaving difference to our family and all the families like ours who are still waiting to find a matching transplant donor.[/p][p]Thank you to everyone who has supported Ayesha's Appeal to raise £200,000  - the largest single contributor in the 40 year history of Anthony Nolan.  We plan to keep the fundrasing page open and continue supporting Anthony Nolan. The majority of money raised will now be donated to the Schiehallion Oncology Ward at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow (Yorkhill) where Ayesha has been treated since her diagnosis and will continue to do so.[/p][p]Click on the facebook icon for updates[/p][p]Thank you for your kind donation, every penny counts. We really appreciate your support.[/p][p]A huge thanks to Tom Cromar and Children's Aid for hosting the successful Question of Sport dinner on Thursday May 3rd 2012 at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow which raised £50,000+. Many thanks to the following organisations for their most generous donations: Spifox, Children's Aid and Fraser Ingles.[/p]
