Team story

[p]Update - T minutes ten Weeks[/p][p]With ten weeks to go training has gone into over drive as we all start to realise what an endeavour this ride will be. However we also wanted to thank for your support so far, whilst we can train for the ride as a team of six we can only succeed at the larger objective with your help. [/p][p]We have also gone a bit Hollywood and prepared a trailer to provide an update on our training to date which you can view here[/p][p] Original [/p][p]A team of six from BDP comprising of Chris Hughes, Daniel Valcarcel Manzano, Fergus Colman, Jorge Barreno, Luke Cadman and Martin Jarvie are tackling the Deloitte Ride Across Britain later on this year and over nine days we intend to cycle 980 miles between Land’s End and John O’Groats, climbing nearly 50,000ft (to put that into perspective, Everest is 29,030ft!!) . . . oh and we are camping too! It will certainly be a true test of stamina and will. [/p][p]Of course there is a more serious motive for us taking on this challenge and that is to try and raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, who are one of the largest British charities and provide specialist healthcare, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. As well as helping with the medical needs of people affected by cancer, Macmillan also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have and campaigns for better cancer care. Macmillan Cancer Support's goal is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer in the UK. [/p][p]It has been a tumultuous start to our training so far with many hours in the saddle braving the snow and rain, two hospital visits and unfortunately two team member substitutions. However, as we enter the summer period and the sun is out we are all starting to get the miles and try and make sure that it’s a case of training miles equals event day smiles.[/p][p]We have set ourselves as big a fundraising goal as the cycling challenge itself and we are trying to raise over £13,000 between us.[/p][p]Thank you for taking the time to read the above and we would really appreciate any donations that you would be able to make to help us raise funds for this worthwhile cause.[/p][p] [/p]
