Team story

[p]The BOSP team took part in the ‘Nuclear Rush’ on May 17th - a tough, gritty and fun 6km cross country race on muddy Essex farmland, heavily loaded with over 50 man-made and natural obstacles including;• Tyre pits • Walls/Ramps • Cargo crawls/nets • Lakes • Water wades • Straw stacks • Mud pits • Ditches • Tarzan swings • Zip wires over water • "Nuclear Slides" [/p][p]With fantastic team spirit, laughter, tears, shoves and pulls, they made it through the super tough and down right nasty obstacle course to claim victory at the finish line - they left no man down and always helped a stranger in danger. We admire their bravery and our hearts go out to them during their recovery, and hope the cuts and bruises, aches and pains disappear very soon![/p][p]Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play is an Ofsted Outstanding registered charity (1107392) which offers support to families by providing short breaks for their children and young people with learning and physical disabilities.[/p][p]Our service users, in particular those that have profound physical disabilities, those that require specialist feeding or have very challenging behaviors are unable to access mainstream activities that are readily available to their peers.  This has a huge impact on their social and emotional development, communication and self-esteem, all of which affect their ability to make and maintain friendships, ultimately creating a negative psychological impact.[/p][p]The BOSP team will be raising money towards a mini-bus   Our intention is to deliver more exciting and dynamic ‘Out and About’ activity sessions for children and young people, in order to develop their physical, emotional and social well-being.  The increased independence from carers will encourage the children to broaden their friendship circle and widen their social network through interaction with their peers and play workers. [/p][p]For families who do not have access to a car or are unable to access public transport, the mini-bus would also enable us to collect children and young people from their homes.  In addition to providing much needed respite/short breaks for the parent/carer, for many children, this is an opportunity to extend their range of experiences in ways which would normally be unobtainable.[/p][p]Thank you for kindlt supporting the team.
