Team story

[p]Please follow us on https://www.facebook.com/groups/1488949341208110/[/p][p]Bailey turned 9 years old in August and is a very keen cyclist. He regularly cycles with his Granddad and his Mum ever since he got his first road bike, a Chris Hoy for Christmas a couple of years ago. Bailey regularly takes part in 40 km rides alongside adults, and really enjoys himself. Bailey is not your typical 9 year old boy. Bailey is one of the most truly thoughtful, loving and caring boys you could meet who always puts other people first. The last couple of years however have been extremely tough for Bailey. Unfortunately a very close family member passed away as a result of cancer which still has a very profound effect on Bailey and his cousin, our niece Shannon was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Thankfully Shannon is now in remission having finished her treatment in the summer, but seeing two family members go through such terrible ordeals has certainly effected Bailey.[/p][p]Bailey is as a result old beyond his years. At times he can be challenging but he is also incredibly mature and grown up and always puts others first. The impact of these tragedies upon Bailey have made Bailey determined to do whatever he can to make a difference. Bailey doesn't want other people to have to go through what he has witnessed and so has decided that he wants to do bike rides, a 100km ride on July 6th 2019 and a 100 miles ride in July 2020 to raise as much money as he can to help fight cancer.[/p][p]Bailey is ambitiously aiming to raise as much money as he can for his chosen charities which are Children with Cancer, Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden. All of these charities mean something to Bailey and his cousin was treated at the Royal Marsden in Sutton. Bailey plans to incorporate the Royal Marsden in both of his rides. Both rides will be incredibly tough for Bailey. He is a big 9 year old but a child nonetheless and the distance is considerable even for seasoned adult cyclists. Bailey figures that the rides although tough will be nothing like the pain that people with Cancer suffer with and so he is happy to suffer if it will make the lives of other people better. [/p][p]As his parents we are so incredibly proud of him and so very proud to be able to call him our son. He is everything that we wish we could be and we couldn't possibly ask anymore of him. His selflessness is unbelievable and his determination to help others brings tears to our eyes. He is determined to complete these rides and we are equally determined to help him raise as much money for his charities as possible. If you can spare even a few pounds, please, please donate. Every penny helps. This kind of thing has never been attempted by someone as young as Bailey. Please help us to help him make a difference[/p]
