My story

[p]Hello and thank you so much for visiting my page. [/p][p]Why am I shaving my head? I want to raise money for a charity that helps support victims of abuse. Much of this has to do with the experiences I've had and my desire to raise awareness and a greater understanding of domestic abuse- in particular coercive control. [/p][p]This year I will turn 50 and I want to go into the second half of my life as unencumbered and unbeholden to my past as I can. It has been a journey not only of understanding my external world but also of looking within and understanding me. [/p][p]I have chosen Leeway as they are a local charity providing refuge and outreach services around the Norwich and Waveney area. Leeway provides support for women as well as men and children. It has had a 27% increase in demand for its services but without the corresponding increase in funding which is why I am fundraising for them.[/p][p][/p][p]Please dig deep!!! Thank you!! [/p][p]Min Grob, Conference on Coercive Control, CCChat and volunteer at Leeway.[/p][p][/p][p]"12 women began meeting in 1974 and would found Leeway, the second refuge to open outside London. I was part of that group, learning so much so fast, not only about domestic violence but how to run organisations and how to put survivors at the centre. It is a tribute to generations of women that it still exists, but it needs support to continue to be a lifesaver in the lives of women and children."[/p][p][/p][p]Professor Liz Kelly, Professor of Sexualised Violence at London Metropolitan University as well as co-chair of the End Violence Against Women coalition (EVAW). [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
