My story

[p]Why we are fund raising[/p][p]Barking Mad are all about the joys of bringing dogs and people together so we are delighted to be raising money for Dogs for Good in 2019. This fantastic charity provides assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities as well as improving and enriching the lives of children with autism by finding them suitable family dogs. Thank you so much for participating in our fund raising efforts! In 2018 we raised enough money to sponsor 2 puppies and we are aiming to sponsor at least another 2.[/p][p]Our fundraising activities[/p][p]Tracy has pledged to #walk1000miles in 2019, a great initiative from Country Walking magazine to help us all become physically and emotionally more healthy. This is the perfect opportunity for those of us with and without dogs in our lives to take up this achievable challenge of 2.75 miles per day. If you have an activity tracker you can easily see what you are achieving and all your daily steps can count towards your target or you can count "boots on" walking only - why not join in? Tracy is counting all her steps and in the first week of January has reached her target plus 30% - the fundraising target is really motivating her![/p][p]In September I will running the Great North Run. When my friend Lisa suggested we attempt this back in 2004 I was hesitant. All our family and friends thought it was hilarious as we had never run before but everyone was supportive and we did it in a commendable 2 hours 47 minutes. And here we are 14 years later still running, every year we say this is the last year and then the email pops into the inbox and we cannot resist. So 2019 will be our 16th run and we are looking forward to it, let the training begin!!![/p][p]We will be organising other events in the future such as a coffee morning and community dog walk.[/p]
