My story

[p]So 10 years ago I ran the Great South Run with no intention of doing it again. Even after all my friends signed up I wasn’t interested. Then as the days got closer and I was adding a few runs into my weekly training I decided why not. Of course my style it was too late and no spaces! However one of our clients is unable to run so I have taken his space and the pressure is on! [/p][p]Now the charity part. Norrie Disease - Imagine a world without sight now imagine it without Sound too. Norrie disease is a rare genetic condition causing blindness/severe visual impairment from birth as well as many secondary conditions including progressive hearing loss. It affects mainly boys. One of our clients who has been training with us for nearly 10 years has a little boy with Norrie's. Something Kirsty and I had never heard of until we met Rebecca and Paul and their little boy Ollie. It’s not surprising we hadn’t heard it as there are only 30 people in the UK with this condition and most of those are completely blind, very deaf, have learning difficulties and have mental health and behavioral problems. [/p][p]Ollie is one of the most inspirational little characters you will ever come across, he often gets involved with his mum and dad around this time of year to start preparing for the ski session (yes Ollie skis with very limited vision as well as weekly horseriding lessons, snorkeling and scuba diving!).[/p][p]Child health research is significantly underfunded, with only 5% of UK research funding spent on projects relating to child health. The Norrie Disease Foundation has formed a research partnership with Sparks and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity on its 2019 National Call, which supports research projects addressing some of the most difficult and hard to treat childhood diseases, and aim to improve diagnosis and develop more effective and kinder treatments for children who desperately need them.[/p][p]The Norrie Disease Foundation needs to raise £62,500 by February 2020 in order for the research project into preventing hearing loss for those affected by Norrie Disease to go ahead. [/p][p]So please dig deep and and help me raise some money towards The Norrie Disease Foundation Research which could help Ollie and other children affected in the future and I'll do my best to run as fast as my clients are expecting me too! [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
