Team story

[p]We are a team of firefighters and ambulance crew who work for South Wales Fire And Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service's NHS Trust. The majority of us work together at Barry Emergency Services Station in the Vale of Glamorgan, while others are based at Emergency Services Stations in Penarth, Cardiff and Monmouth. We are planning to complete the National 3 Peaks on the 17th June, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. We have two teams of 6 climbers and 2 drivers who will drive the teams between the Peaks. Between the hard work of both the drivers and climbers, we are aiming to complete the challenge within 24 hours. We are completing the challenge in aid of three charities, two of them are the Firefighters Charity and Tasc Ambulance Charity. Both of these charities work tirelessly to provide vital treatment, support and care for their respective Services, for the Firefighters and Ambulance Crew whom sustain work related physical injuries and mental health issues whilst they are working on the frontline, thus helping to keep them in work and supporting these workforce communities. [/p][p]Our third chosen charity is a local one, based in Barry, Mind In The Vale of Glamorgan, who are affiliated to Mind, but are dedicated to the people in our community. All of the team have colleagues, family and friends that have been impacted by mental health issues, and they are also extremely aware of these issues that are endured by the people we serve in our community, especially in these times. Mind in the Vale Of Glamorgan provides a vital service, to people experiencing mental health issues, caring and supporting them with treatment and guidance enabling them to recover and achieve their goals and ambitions in life.[/p]
