My story

[p]Hello! Thanks for visiting my page, it must mean you're donating!![/p][p][/p][p]I'll be running the London Marathon in April 2015 to raise money for Parkinsons UK and would love for you to donate. I'll obviously be training VERY hard to achieve this mammoth run and you're donations will be worth every penny for this charity. Take a look at their website http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/ if you want to find out more about the support they offer and how they can improve the lives of people with Parkinsons. [/p][p]I'm going to try and update this page with my training progress (hopefully there will be progress..) and also any fundraising events so you can all keep an eye out and take part when you can![/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Thanks to the lovely Georgie, I had the motivation to run from Morden to Kilburn in order to get a home cooked roast. This is my longest run since I did a half marathon last summer and it was hard! Not the kind of hard that I normally experience in the gym - the sweating, panting, out of breath kind of hard - but more on a mental level. I tried out an energy gel for the first time at about 8 miles and I think it helped a little. Although I was extremely proud of myself for running the whole way, I definitely was not prepared enough for this run. I was off training for a week due to an ankle injury which I think was caused by impact on concrete. Next challenge is to get outside more to train my legs to handle the impact and strengthen my weak ankles! I'll keep you posted...[/span][/p][p][/p][p][span=color: #00ff00;]26/02/2015[/span][/p][p][span=color: #00ff00;]After another fall back last week with my foot injury rearing its ugly head after a 3 mile outdoor run, so I've been staying in the gym and making the most of the treadmill since. Managed to control my urges to run fast and wear myself out quickly and did a 7.5 mile run on Monday at a fairly easy pace. Mixing it up with swimming and classes this week. Circuits last night was a killer but the sprints we did definitely challenged my stamina! Looking forward to a long run on Saturday, so hoping to do 8-10 miles. Cross fingers my foot is recovered and ready to go! ...[/span][/p][p][/p][p][span=color: #3366ff;]11/03/2015[/span][/p][p][span=color: #3366ff;]The weather is making running so much more bearable and fun! Had a gorgeous day on Saturday so made the most of it and did a run from central London to Morden - through Battersea Park and a little along the river. If you happen to read this and have a good, picturesque route you know of please do let me know![/span][/p][p][/p][p][span=color: #ff6600;]30/03/2015[/span][/p][p][span=color: #ff6600;]Only 4 weeks to go!!! I am so pleased to say I completed the half marathon last Sunday in 2:00:29, 13 minutes quicker than I managed it last year.[lt]span style="color: #ff6600;"[gt]This has made me so much more optmistic about the big day and more determined to try for a sub 5 hour finishing time.[/span] Special thanks to Georgie, Hayley and Damion who came to cheer us on! Having supporters definitely boosts your energy. I have a couple more weeks before I need to start tapering, so need to get some big miles in the bank to prepare. I've charged past the £1000 mark on my fundraising and so grateful to everyone who has supported me so far![lt]/span[gt][/p]
