Team story

[p]The Ecosurety team has so far completed the ‘3 Peaks Challenge’ of climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Mount Snowdon in 24 hours to help raise funds to support the Bristol Wild Place project in developing a class room as part of their Bear Wood development. [/p][p]As part two of our fundraising efforts the Team are organising an evening of rock n roll, dancing and general merriment at the Velindra pub in Bristol on the evening 22nd September. It promises to be great fun and help raise awareness of the appeal, and you can donate here to help support the cause![/p][p]The Wild Place project (part of the Bristol Zoological Society registered charity) aims to inspire families to enjoy nature and to discover wildlife from the UK and around the world, with an emphasis on protecting threatened habitats on our doorsteps and around the globe. ‘Bear Wood’ is an exciting new development due to open at Bristol Wild Place Project in 2019 that will transport guests back in time to when the woodland was inhabited by European brown bears, European wolves, Eurasian lynx and wolverine, showing the effects of woodland loss on our native animals. It is the story of what was, where we are now and what is still at stake. [/p][p]British ancient woodland is the richest habitat for wildlife in the UK, providing a home for hundreds of species of animals and plants. 98% of British woodland has been destroyed due to climate change, urbanisation and intensive agriculture, and we have destroyed well over half of our biodiversity in the UK in the last 50 years alone. Our native wildlife is increasingly under threat and needs protecting. [/p][p]Ecosurety’s fund raising efforts will make possible the creation of a furnished classroom at the Bear Wood exhibit to create a lasting legacy of inspiring and educating our future generations on the importance of conserving our biodiversity. [/p][p]Thank you for supporting the Bear Wood Appeal, protecting the future of our native wildlife and enabling us to inspire the next generation to care for our woodlands.[/p]
